Both functions trigger a process from an interface, but differ in user navigation and autoscale support.
a!startProcess()
- Runs the process in the background
- User stays on the current screen
- Best for unattended / automated operations
- Supports autoscaled process models
- Used inside saveInto on a button or field
a!startProcessLink()
- Launches a process and navigates the user into the first form
- Creates a wizard-style entry flow
- Best when user must complete initial task steps immediately
- Does not support autoscaled process models
- Used as a link component in an interface
Interview tip: Mention autoscale: a!startProcess() supports it, a!startProcessLink() does not. On a high-volume process that one difference usually decides which to use.
