How to play the Destroyer Game
Bugs crawl over a fake desktop and eat it. Pick a tool, tap or drag on the board, and clear them. Every bug you kill scores points, kills in quick succession multiply, and every milestone unlocks a bigger one.
Tools
- ๐จ Hammer: tap to smash. Cracks the screen and kills anything under it.
- ๐ซ Gun: you hold the gun. Press to fire, and move your finger or mouse to turn the barrel. Bullets fly across the desktop and hit whatever is in their path. The cone widens the longer you hold, so short bursts stay tight. Unlimited ammo.
- ๐ฅ Fire: hold and sweep. Flames spread on their own and burn bugs that run into them.
- ๐งด Cleaner: hold and sweep to repair the desktop.
- โ๏ธ Scratch: press and drag to carve a trail.
- ๐ฃ Bomb: tap to drop one. It lands, ticks for two seconds, then blasts a wide area. Up to six at once.
- โก Lightning: tap near a bug. The bolt chains to the nearest bugs, up to five in a row.
- โ Grab: hold a bug, drag it, let go to fling it.
Bugs
- ๐ชณ Cockroach: spots you early, runs in zigzags and hugs the walls.
- ๐ Termite: scatters when you get close, and follows other termites to food.
- ๐ท๏ธ Spider: backs away, then sprints for the nearest corner.
- ๐ชฐ Fly: the best eyesight and the most erratic escape.
- ๐ Caterpillar: barely notices you and eats the most. Easy points.
- ๐ฆ Mosquito: circles around you instead of running away.
Bugs appear on their own, faster as your score climbs. Use the spawn row above the board to add a specific bug, or switch auto-spawn off in the options to clear the board.
Scoring and missions
- Each bug is worth 10 points. Kill another within two seconds to keep a streak going.
- Every three kills in a streak raise the value: 20, 30, 40, then 50 points per bug. A pause resets it.
- Missions go 10, 25, 50, 100 and 200 bugs, then every 100 after that. The bar above the board tracks the next one.
- At 100 kills a Robot Guard arrives to protect the bugs. Break its dome shield first, then hit it. Hammer and lightning stun it, the bomb hurts it most. It comes back 50 kills after you beat it.
- Your best score is saved in this browser.
Controls and options
- Touch or mouse: tap for hammer, bomb and lightning; hold and move for gun, fire, cleaner and scratch.
- Keyboard: click the board, then use the arrow keys to aim, Space or Enter to use the tool, and P to pause.
- Tap the fullscreen button for the biggest board, especially on a phone.
- Reset (โบ above the board, or in the pause screen and options) clears the damage, bugs and score. Your best score stays.
- Upload your own screenshot or meme with the Image button. It never leaves your device.
- Light effects reduces particles and screen shake if the game runs slowly.
Why a stress-relief page on an interview site?
Interview nerves are normal, and a few minutes of deliberate distraction before a technical round measurably improves recall. The Chill Zone gives Appian developers a place to reset between study sessions without leaving the site.
What you will find here
- Desktop destroyer: a small browser game where you smash a virtual desktop and zap bugs. Pointless by design.
- Guided breathing: a box-breathing timer (inhale four seconds, hold four, exhale four, hold four) that slows your heart rate before you join the call.
- Quick tips: short reminders for the minutes before an interview, such as having your project summary ready and asking for a moment to think before answering a scenario question.
- Confessions: an anonymous wall where developers share interview experiences and frustrations. Posts are screened by an automated moderation model before they appear, and readers can flag anything that slips through.
When you are ready to get back to it, head to the interview questions, certification practice exams or the preparation roadmap.
