Matching is best-effort, and it is the ordering that changes, never the questions. An AI interview falls back to a standard one when you have used your monthly allowance, and it orders questions normally when you have uploaded no resume, set no target role and pasted no job description. You still get a full interview in every one of those cases.

- Do I need an account to practise an Appian mock interview?
- No. You can run a full interview without an account — you get questions from the community bank and from interviews real candidates have shared. Signing in adds your progress history, weaker topics getting more questions over time, and questions selected around your own resume and target role.
- When does the resume matching not apply?
- Four cases, and none of them shortens or weakens the interview — you always get a full set of real questions, they are just ordered the normal way. A standard interview never uses your resume, by design. An AI interview falls back to a standard one once you have used your monthly AI allowance, which resets each month. There is nothing to match against if you have uploaded no resume, set no target role and pasted no job description. And if the matching service is briefly unavailable, the session quietly falls back to keyword matching on the same details rather than failing.
- Where do the mock interview questions come from?
- Three, and none of them is a model writing a question. Most come from the AppianVerse question bank, submitted and approved by Appian practitioners. Some come from interviews candidates have reported as genuinely asked, tagged with the company where possible. When you sign in with a resume, one or two more are picked because they ask about a feature you have actually worked with. Every question is shown verbatim as it was asked or approved.
- Can I practise for a specific company?
- Yes. Setting a target company prioritises questions reported from interviews at that company. A question genuinely asked where you are interviewing outranks every other question in the pool, ahead of recency and topic match.
- What topics does the Appian mock interview cover?
- Process Models, Interfaces and SAIL, Records, Expressions, Query Expressions, Database, External Systems and integrations, Security, Data Types, Admin Console, Constants and Documents. You can focus on specific areas, and topics you have answered poorly before get more questions.
- How long is a mock Appian interview?
- You choose between 10 and 30 questions. A 10-question session is a short warm-up; 30 questions is closer to the length of a real technical round.
