Questions Asked
My interview/exam experience focused on core Appian platform knowledge, application design, process modeling, records, interfaces, and best practices. The questions were mostly scenario-based and tested whether I understood how to build and maintain Appian applications correctly.
Some of the questions/topics I was asked included:
- What is the Appian platform used for?
- What is the difference between a record type and a data type?
- How do process models work in Appian?
- What is the difference between a smart service and a script task?
- What is activity chaining, and when should it be used?
- What are process variables and how are they used?
- What is SAIL and how is it used to build interfaces?
- What is the difference between rule inputs and local variables?
- How do you configure relationships in record types?
- How does Appian handle security for applications, records, and objects?
- What are best practices for designing reusable rules and interfaces?
- How do you test an Appian application before deployment?
- What is the role of the SDLC in Appian development?
- How are constants and environment-specific values used?
- How do you troubleshoot errors in process models or interfaces?
Overall, the experience was fair but required a strong understanding of Appian fundamentals and how the different objects connect inside an application. I would recommend reviewing official Appian documentation, especially records, process modeling, interfaces, data types, security, and deployment best practices.
